Ken McCracken

Ken McCracken

In 1996 I helped to establish the first university-based education programme for family businesses in the United Kingdom.

In 2000 I co-founded a family business consulting practice and for some years combined this work with being a corporate lawyer and managing partner of a law firm.

In 2013 I left my legal career and accepted an invitation to set up an international family business consultancy. This gave me an opportunity to work in parts of Europe, Asia and North America, to add to experience I had already gained in the Middle East.

In 2016, a Big 4 accounting firm offered me the opportunity to develop a new consulting practice where I worked until leaving in 2019 to set up MFBC.

Publications

I am the co-author and teacher of two education programmes for the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).

I also wrote and teach the Family Business Module on the STEP Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Private Wealth Advising.

In 2018, I was asked to write a Special Report for Globe Law and Business entitled, “Creating the Trusted Team of Advisers for a Family Business.”

I also previously served on the Research Applied Board for the Family Business Review, a leading academic journal in the field.
